The SustainaFest Ekahi model Tiny House was designed by Annapolis-based architect, Kata Petty and the sustainable design experts at SKA Studios. With input from SustainaFest strategic partners, these original designs were created to meet the needs for a variety living situations. Currently, the Ekahi model plans are the only ones for sale. SustainaFest uses the Tiny House construction process to engage students in hands-on, innovative learning experiences by building fully functional, hyper-efficient dwellings that ultimately serve organizations working to meet community housing needs. The Ekahi model Tiny House is approximately 260 sq ft (12’ x 22’) complete with full kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area and living space. The materials and appliances used in this design were specifically chosen for their high level of sustainability and efficiency. The SustainaFest Ekahi features a rainwater collection and filtration system, composting toilet, solar energy system, energy star appliances, and grey water collection.
